Iron City Hoops will offer an in-house Sunday Summer Basketball League for upcoming 5th through 12th Grade boys and girls. Girls will play all Summer League games at Mountain Brook Junior High. Boys 5th through 8th grade will play June games at Irondale Communicty School and then all boys games will move to Samford for July and August. Sunday afternoon games will run from 2:00-6:00 pm. The plan is to have a 5th/6th, 7th/8th, and a high school divisions. The ability to have a grade division will be dependent on the number of players registered for those grade levels and please know we may need to alter grade particpation based on registration numbers.
You will play Camp-style games of 16 minute running clock halves. Elemenary and Middle School divisions will participate in 6 games (two each in June, July, & August). High School division will start play in July. Teams will play half court man-to-man defense. Each Sunday begins with a 15 minute practice and then teams will move into game play. Teams will have a max of 10 players. Each division will have a max of 4 teams. Iron City Hoops will provide coaches to oversee the games and referees. This league will run in the same format of our Spring, Fall, and Winter leagues.
Game dates are the following Sundays:
June 13th & 20th (Grades 5th through 8th Grade only)
July 11th & 25th (All Ages)
August 1st & 15th (All Ages)
All Girls League games will be at Mountain Brook Junior High. The address is 205 Overbrook Road Mountain Brook 35213.
June Boys League games (5th through 8th Grades only) will be at Irondale Community School. The address is 225 16th Street South Irondale 35210. All July and August boys games will be held at Samford's Bashinsky Gym located in Seibert Hall.
Cost for the Spring League will be $130 for grades 5th through 8th (6 games) and $85.
We will offer a skills combo for our 5th through 8th grade boys and girls players. Boys Skills Sessions will be on the Saturdays prior to your Sunday games (June 12th, June 19th, July 10th, July 24th, July 31st, and August 14th) at Irondale Community School. Boys 5th/6th Grade skills will be from 10:00 - 11:00 am and Boys 7th/8th Grade skills will be from 11:00 am to Noon.
Girls Skills Sessions will be on Sunday afternoons from 2:00-3:00 pm at Mountain Brook Junior High. Cost for the League/Skills Combo (6 games and 6 skills sessions) is only $200.
