Competitive Travel Teams
Iron City Hoops is excited to offer our 7th year of competitive travel teams. With our teams, overall team size will be small (8-10 players per team). We will not guarantee playing time but we also do not expect a weekend tournament to go by where your player does not play unless there are disciplinary or injury reasons. Each team will have 1-2 practices a week beginning the end of February. In mid-March we will transition to one team practice per week with optional skills training. Practice locations will be in the Birmingham area. Coaches, uniforms, and warm-up shooting shirts will be provided.
We will offer teams in the following age groups:
Boys - 5th Grade through 11th grade
Girls - 7th grade through 11th grade
State Travel Teams - Boys and Girls
At Iron City Hoops we feel that we can facilitate your player's growth and allow them to compete against strong competition. We will have a state-team option where we will stay within 2-hours of the Birmingham area. This could include travel to Atlanta. Each team will play in 6 tournaments this spring. Most tournaments will be sponsored through YBOA (Youth Basketball of America), Supreme Courts in Guntersville, or HoopSeen. Each tournament guarantees at least 3 games per weekend. By participating in these tournaments we must follow general tournament rules. A player cannot play for multiple teams in the same tournament in the same age division.
Practices begin at the end of February. We plan to finish our season in early to mid-May prior to school try-outs. A full list of tournament weekends be available by try-outs.
Cost will be $850 for Competitive Teams. Total cost includes all practice court fees, 6 tournaments, uniforms, coaches, etc. There are no additional costs. These fees will be divided up into 2 installments with the first deposit due at the end of February prior to the beginning of team practice. The last installment will be due in mid-March prior to the first tournament. All fees can be paid for through our website. Each installment will be $425. The initial deposit of $425 due prior to the start of team practice deposit is non-refundable. There will be a sibling discount if you have multiple players on our teams.
Regional Teams - Boys 7th Grade & Up
Iron City Hoops will offer a regional travel team option for boys grades 7th grade and up. This option will require extensive travel and overnight stay. Teams will participate in HoopSeen, Ryze, Future 150, and On The Radar style tournaments in Atlanta, Nashville, and other surrounding states. These tournaments will run from late March through July. Regional teams will be limited to 8-10 players.
Cost will be $1250 for Regional Teams. Total costs includes practice court fees, 6 tournaments, uniforms, coaches, etc. The increased cost per player for this travel option is secondary to the increased cost of these tournaments and the increased cost of travel for coaches. These fees will be divided up into 3 installments The first deposit will be due the week following tryouts. The second installment will be due mid-March . The first 2 installments will be $425. The final installment of $400 will be due April 3rd. The initial deposit of $425 is non-refundable.
